Our team cannot emphasize enough the importance of wearing retainers to hold your teeth straight. Whether it is an "old school" metal retainer, a fixed
retainer, or a clear plastic retainer, a patient should always wear them EVERY NIGHT. We have heard countless stories from patients; such as "my dog
ate my retainer," "I lost my retainer," or "my retainer broke." If that is ever the case, feel free to call our office to make an appointment so we
can help you right away. Do not let more than 24 hours pass without wearing a retainer!
Here's an article that talks a bit more on retainers from the American Associations of Orthodontists:

Remember, as you age, your teeth will move. Retainers will help prevent tooth movement.
